Grad Council Meeting: 11-07-03

Location and Time

The following members were present:

Issues discussed

1. John Lucas was elected as the new student representative. He will attend College of Engineering meetings with Chad Wingrave and take on any other small responsibilities that develop during the course of the year.

2. Chad Wingrave is our College of Engineering representative. He and John Lucas will attend the next meeting on Thursday November 13^th at 9:30 am.

3. Kristin will add our new representatives to the listserv.

4. Hussein will start another round of dues collection beginning the week of November 10th. The amount of money that we collect will determine the number of social events.

5. Members of the Graduate Council will attend a review held by Dr. Bowman regarding Dr. Kafura’s performance as the head of the department on November 21^st at 4:00 pm.

6. Kristin attended the most recent meeting of the Student Engineers Council (SEC). The Graduate Council does not have the resources to join SEC.

7. Sumit will contact Dr. Ribbens about student presentations as part of travel conference requirements.

8. There is a problem with students locking machines in the graduate lab for extended periods of time. Sourabh will contact the necessary people to ensure that the need for a new locking policy is established.

9. Divya will talk to Dr. Ehrich about getting more RAM for the grad lab computers.
