Grad Council Meeting:

Issues discussed
1. Treasurer’s post – We have a potential candidate who will be emailing Marc with the necessary information in the next few days.
2. Research space and lockers – Sourabh will be sending out an email this evening with the application. Jon will update the website to indicate that students requesting research space cannot have any other space available on campus. Special cases will be handled if a student’s advisor emails the Graduate Council.
3. Mentor program – We would like to have 10 or more mentors; we currently have about 8. Sourabh will send out an email to the new students once their email addresses are posted by Tess Sentelle.
4. GSa – Divya and Sumit attended the GSA meeting on Thursday, August 29. During the meeting, key members were introduced and the elections were discussed.
5. Back to school social – Plans are being made for the ethnic dinner; we are awaiting confirmation from a faculty member who will hold the dinner at his or her house.
6. Grad lab printers – We will propose a new printing policy to the tech staff. One printer will print medium quality drafts and use the quota that is given to students by the department. The other printer will print high quality drafts for a fee.
7. Contacts on the Graduate Council website – Jon will add a page to the website that has information for who to contact on the Graduate Council for specific problems.
