Objective:

This meeting was designed to discuss status of several pending issues.

SuperUser
Vijay had a good meeting with Vince right after our Grad Council meeting.  It sounds like Vince is going to start setting up sudo to allow us to reboot and clean out tmp.  Vince asked what tasks we'd like the superuser to be able to do.  Here is what I have on the list so far:

    reboot
    shutdown
    clean out /tmp
    clean out parts of /var
    fix account lockouts (i.e. reset passwords or some other mechanism)

Please let me or Vijay know if you can think of other items. As we work with Vince and Gay on this, we will start exploring the
option of having a small number (2-3) additional people who could also have sudo privledges to do some or all of these tasks.

Monitors
Tracy has sent a message to Gay resolving (hopefully) the monitor issues in 565.

InstallFest
Gay has let us know that the InstallFest can start as soon as tomorrow (Friday) if we are able to get help to move the machines over
to Brodie.  Nathan is going to be leading the InstallFest effort and may see if Pete Schoenhoff is interested in leading/helping.

CRC
Farooq is compiling a list of software/hardware requests from grad students which he will pass along to the CRC.  Some items that we talked about being on the list (most of these are from the General Meeting or from emails generated by the general meeting):

    mpage-like software for Windows 2000 (2-up, 4-up, etc).
    dedicated Linux machines
    filesharing between Unix and Windows machines (samba?)
    additional hard disk space for csgrad
    development tools for espresso

Farooq is also going to try to assign each item a priority.  Let Farooq know if you have additional items to add.

Social
Wendy is going to "empower" Jason Zwolak to invite the female-rich department of his choice to the Ice Skating trip next Sunday.  The condition is that Jason has to also invite the men from the department too ;-)
